I like movies. I hang around in movie forums a lot. Sometime I post but not often - not that kinda person. I hang out in lots of these forums, get a bit of different opinion 'n stuff. all good. then one day I see this PoS:

Getcloser.com is a website owned by HMV, the British record store chain. It's a kinda social network. You know, I might be interested in it, but they've s*** on my doorstep now and so I'm totally turned off. I don't know why they are resorting to this tactic. The music business must be more f***ed than I thought.
So, this p***es me off but its just one post so I ignore it. BUT then a few days later I get in another forum a same message. So i start googling. And then I find more and more of the same, from like loads of movie and music sites. Dont believe me? Here are some URLs:

If you search Google you can find loads more - just search for "getcloserbeta.com". Spam spam spammety spam, spam spam spam. It turns out in some forums, the moron spamming can't even spell the goddamn name right!

Whats so bad about this? First of all its the blatant lying. On one forum he is "Bruce" the next he is "gavin" or "stevie" or "Bill" or even "Claire"! The next is what he wants from you - he wants your email. Your details. Your taste in music and film. And yet he's not even honest enough to give his real name to you! Stinking, identity thief hypocrite.
Finally it's the disrespect. I love my forums and places - I don't post much but I still enjoy reading them. And when I do take part I contribute. All this guy is doing is getting free advertising and relying on the good faith of these members. HMV wants publicity for his site? They should pay for it and not abuse other websites.
I hope that anyone who reads this post can spread the word - please tell your friends how a corporation as big as HMV is happy to spam you and abuse the websites you use and love. Thank you.
